Special Action for Life Transformation (SALT) is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization duly registered and operating in South Sudan

SALT is a South Sudanese social services organization that seeks to bring the hope, healing and transformation that only Christ can bring, in practical and tangible ways.

South Sudan, the world’s youngest country, has been in a violent civil war off and on for over 25 years. Hundreds of thousands have lost their lives, property, and livelihoods. Over a million have had to flee. Orphans have been abandoned, and women tortured and traumatized. Many have lost hope.

OUR MODEL AND APPROACHES TO ACHIEVE IMPACT

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND ENTREPRENUERSHIP

We support women especially single mothers with the right information and business skills and microfinance loans. We empower them spiritually and encourage them to know God to meaningfully use them to support and account to their families and community to bring a transformation at the different levels and eradicate poverty.

ADVOCACY, OUTREACHES, CAMPAIGNS AND HUMANTARIAN SUPPORT

We work with the churches, local government, partners, media and the community as enablers and conveners to influence and cause change in service delivery and policy authorities to fill in the gaps and have a peaceful coexistence.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEARNING

We value accountability and learning as an important pillar of the organization. We continue to strengthen and improve accountability and learning through engaging communities in implementation, monitoring, reviews, radio talk shows, fellowship, sharing ideas. We also receive complaints and feedback through the same mechanisms. This year round a lot has been accounted for and three staff and two board members and a scholar travelled to Philippines for learning events and conference.

CAPACITY STRENGTHENING

We strengthen capacity of our staff, volunteers and community groups to get their buy in, share our vision and lead the process of transformation. However, this does not only require knowledge but also the opportunity to act. Special recognition to all our partners, government and donors for providing for us the enabling environment. This year round we were able to build the capacity of the different clients through trainings and workshops for the youth, women, students, pupils, among others. The youth were trained in block making and livestock rearing.
